So this is my first blog. And it is New Years Eve. My fist blog post is titled Day Negative 1 because this blog is about a New Years resolution that I am making to myself. And seeing as how I have one day before New Years I thought the title was poignant and serves and a reminder that today is about preparing for the next year of my life. My dream is to own my own magazine. A magazine that makes people read, that inspires people to live. A magazine that will benefit others and will have a positive impact on people's lives. So today I decided that I was going to do everything in my power to create this magazine this year. I will blog about my efforts everyday and hope to get feedback that will help me along the way. I will also be sharing my personal ups and downs and I hope that my life and my dream might reach out and touch someone.
My name is Aaron Maxwell. I am 19 years old and I live outside of Houston Texas. My father is a working man and my mother is a student. I am out of school and about to start college next month. I am gay and in a new relationship with a very loving man named Jesse. I currently work for a hotel and I have just enough free time at the end of the night to blog about my day.
Right now it is 4:52am on New Years eve and I am in bed. I have been working on my business plan all night and find myself in need of a glass of wine and some good long rest. But a swig of milk from the jug and a few hours will have to do. Tomorrow is a busy day. I have plans for Jesse and I, and maybe a few friends, to go to this ball tomorrow night downtown to bring in the new year. I am very excited about it and I hope that the experience will be inspiring, seeing as how the people at this ball will soon be my future readers.
So tonight before I go to sleep I would like to share my mission statement with you. I hope this provides you with a better idea and understanding of my dream. My mission is to ensure Houston's cultural continuity by acting as a driving force in the city, to portray the vitality of its citizens by providing quality editorial, to stimulate the economy by creating lucrative job opportunities and providing affordable recognition for local businesses, and to help the community by coordinating charitable events that celebrate what it means two be a Houstonian.
Well... wish me luck y'all. I have one long year ahead of me and a lot of hard work to do. All this and I have to get back to the gym. Who am I kidding... the gym can wait.
